On books and peregrinations
I am currently reading The Books in My Life by Henry Miller on openlibrary.org and trying to jot down some of his suggestions on what might be some new interesting reads for me.
Since I gave away all my books to friends when we left Canada a year ago, my personal library is now somewhat non-existent. I have had the good fortune to find an old bookshop here were I sometimes find gems and occasional oddities. I once found a dusty Complete Illustrated Works of Lewis Caroll if you can believe it. Of course I couldn’t help buying it, even though it weighed a ton. Whenever I go there and stumble on classics like Lord of the Flies or Heart of Darkness, I can’t believe my luck. I even managed to get some books in french too, mostly Larousse Gastronomique cookbooks.
So I am writing all these titles down knowing perfectly well that the chances of finding any of them here are slim to none. Oh well, I might just have to steal my husband’s Kindle.
Don’t look at me, Henry Miller made me do it!
