“So yeah, we’re even marketing the rooftop.”  →
Texas schools are turning to advertisment to compensate for state budget cuts. Children will be seeing ads on their school bus, in their textbooks, in the entryway and inside the school, around their stadium, on their school website and yes, ads will even be plastered on school rooftops. I find this pretty disturbing. I hope other parents will agree with me.

The human cost of an iPad →
Over the last 3 months, Apple made 13 billion $ in profits. As the article points out, Apple has the leverage and power to demand changes in factory conditions. Should it choose not to, it is most likely that no one else will. As of yet, it seems they’d rather wage PR campaigns than actually change the way they do business.

And we're back.
After a week at sea in Quy Nhon and an overdose on soft-shell crabs, the family and I airplaned back to the busy, noisy, frantic city we now call home. Hello Saigon! Hello 2012! Then we realised tonight didn’t mean anything to anyone but us really, the Vietnamese won’t be celebrating a new year until January 23rd (which starts the Chinese Lunar Year of the Dragon). Guess we’ll...
